Mateus Dallavechia de Col was named a national semifinalist for Arthur Ashe Jr. Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. De Col is just the second Hilltopper to earn the honor. Jose Hernandez (Men's Golf) was the last Hilltopper to garner semifinalist honors in 2014.

Each year the publication Diverse: Issues in Higher Education honors student-athletes of color who have made achieving both academically and athletically a winning combination. To be considered for the award, student-athletes have to compete in an intercollegiate sport, maintain a cumulative 3.2 GPA, and be active on their campuses or in their communities.
