DALLAS, Texas – St Edward’s softballer Ally Valdez was named Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week for the week of March 18-24. This was the second time she has won this award this season.
Valdez continued her hot hitting posting a .583 average over the week. In game one of a doubleheader against the Rambelles of Angelo State, Valdez got St Edwards on the board first with an RBI. Following two intentional walks, Valdez belted a solo homerun in her last at bat of the game. In game two, Valdez kept the Hilltoppers in the game going three for four with one RBI. Valdez was five for six with two intentional walks in the doubleheader with ASU. As conference opened, Valdez kept her patience earning four free passes in the three game series. In game one versus OPSU, Valdez put the game out of reach with a three run homerun and led the Toppers with an RBI in her only hit of game two. On the week, Valdez had six walks, no strikeouts and compiled a 1.08 slugging percentage.
