DALLAS, Texas – Sophomore midfielder Mikayla Engel was named Heartland Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for the week of October 22-28. This was her first weekly award since arriving at St. Edward’s.
 
Engel tallied two goals and assisted on another as she helped lead the Hilltoppers to a share of the Heartland Conference Regular Season Championship. Trailing 1-0 at halftime on Thursday against rival St. Mary’s, the midfielder scored the tying and game-winning goals to keep the Hilltoppers rolling through conference play. In the 1-0 victory by St. Edward’s on Saturday against Texas A&M-International, Engel assisted on the only goal of the match. For the season, Engel is tied for the team lead with 13 goals and has also dished out five assists. After going pointless in the first five matches of the season, Engel has collected all of her goals and assists in the past 13 contests.
