Hilltoppers win fourth straight, defeat UT-Brownsville, 2-0

Box Score AUSTIN, Texas -The St. Edward's men's soccer team won its fourth-straight match, defeating UT-Brownsville, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at the SEU Soccer Field.

St. Edward's (4-0) tallied up seven shots in the first half but could not find the net as UT-Brownsville's Juan Gamboa produced three first-half saves in goal.

In the second half, junior Josh Nannen scored his second goal of the season in the 56 thminute off of a cornerkick from junior Kevin Klaus. Senior Dustin Cherry also received an assist off of the play by making the first touch.

Sophomore Trey Perkins put the game away, notching his second goal of the season in the 61 stminute on an assist from Nannen.

The Hilltoppers outshot the Scorpions, 17-6, with Perkins collecting six shots of his own.

UT-Brownsville (3-2) was held without a shot the entire second half.

Sophomore Matt Moore registered two saves on the afternoon. The Arlington, Texas native has only allowed one goal in the first four matches of the season.

The Hilltoppers will be back in action Friday as they travel to Laredo to take on conference-rival Texas A&M-International. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
