AUSTIN, Texas — St. Edward's men's soccer broke through with two goals in a little more than six minutes, and KALEO PEREZ-FRANCIS made 10 saves to secure a 2-0 victory over Texas A&M International on Wednesday at Lewis-Chen Family Field.

EASTON JONES scored his first goal of the season off an assist from JUAN SEGURA in the 63rd minute, and BARTEK ZABEK doubled the lead in the 69th minute off an assist from JAKE CICCARELLO. Perez-Francis held up his end with seven second-half saves, helping the Hilltoppers finish a rematch of their season-opening draw with three conference points.

Both teams generated 18 shots, but St. Edward's paired its finishing with a goalkeeper who answered every challenge, improving to 3-6-2 overall and 2-3 in Lone Star Conference play.

The first half unfolded with opportunities on both ends and little separation. St. Edward's held 54 percent of the possession, putting together stretches of pressure that tested the Dustdevils' defense. IZAIAH GARZA forced a save in the 21st minute, followed by a blocked attempt from DEAN ROGGENBAUER and the Hilltoppers' only corner kick of the match.

St. Edward's continued to probe, with HOLDEN RABB and JACKSON STUBBS having consecutive shots blocked before Zabek and PAOLO VELA each put attempts on frame that Texas A&M International goalkeeper Nicklas Berg-Eriksen turned away.

The Dustdevils generated their strongest stretch of the half over the closing minutes. Perez-Francis made his first save against Jorge Delgado in the 39th minute, denied Michael Ochoche in the 42nd, and stopped Wade Melville with 14 seconds remaining to send the teams into halftime scoreless.

Each team finished the half with 10 shots and three attempts on goal.

Zabek tested Berg-Eriksen again early in the second half, and Garza followed with a blocked shot before Perez-Francis denied Jhon Marulanda to keep the match level.

Jones supplied the breakthrough at the 62:42 mark, converting off Segura's assist to put St. Edward's ahead. Texas A&M International quickly threatened to answer, but Kamal Zulfiyev sent a shot wide, and Perez-Francis stopped Aidan Williams to preserve the lead.

The Hilltoppers then found a second goal through their bench. Ciccarello entered in the 66th minute and assisted Zabek less than four minutes later, giving the senior his third goal of the season and St. Edward's a two-goal cushion.

EBUKA BRIGHT-OSIGWE nearly added to the advantage moments after entering, forcing another save from Berg-Eriksen.

Texas A&M International put seven of its eight second-half shots on goal, but Perez-Francis kept the Dustdevils off the scoreboard. He stopped Williams twice more, then made four saves over the final 10 minutes, denying Williams, Delgado, Ricky de la Fuente, and Ethan Williams to close out the shutout.

Zabek put all three of his shots on goal, while Garza and Rabb also finished with three attempts each. St. Edward's held 52 percent of the possession for the match, overcoming a 5-1 deficit in corner kicks with timely finishing and Perez-Francis' work in goal.

Texas A&M International fell to 5-4-2 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play.
