Box Score LAREDO, Texas - St. Edward's senior Dustin Cherry scored a goal in the 73 rdminute to give the 22 nd-ranked Hilltoppers a 1-0 victory over Texas A&M-International Friday evening at Dustdevil Field.
For the second-straight match, St. Edward's (5-0) was forced to play one player short as freshman Terry Stewart picked up a red card in the 20 thminute. The Hilltopper defense was equal to the task, as they weathered 12 shots, but only three of them were on goal and sophomore goalkeeper Matt Moore produced three saves to record his fourth-straight shutout.
In the 73 rdminute, St. Edward's received a free kick 45 yards from the goal. The team captain Cherry stepped up to ball and drilled a shot into the back of the net.
St. Edward's will be back in action Sunday when they host Heartland Conference rival Newman. This is make-up match that was postponed a week ago because of Hurricane Ike and will take place at 2 p.m. at the SEU Soccer Field.
