Hilltoppers dominate Lindenwood, 5-0

AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Edward's men's soccer team defeated Lindenwood 5-0, Sunday afternoon at Lewis-Chen Family Field.

St. Edward's (2-1) took control of the game early, scoring in the 16th minute when Daniel Pena (Sophomore, Plano, Texas) placed a beautiful header past the keeper off the assist from Robert Olivieri (Junior, Keller, Texas) and Coleton Stymeist (Freshman, Dallas, Texas).

In the 18th minute JR Ellis (Junior, Coppell, Texas) beat the keeper one-on-one off a breakaway pass from James Martin (Junior, Haywards Heath, England).

The Hilltoppers scored again in the 32nd minute giving Sam Burns (Freshman, Newcastle, England) his first collegiate goal off the assist from Tyler Miles (Junior, Houston, Texas).

In the second half, Lindenwood (0-4) attacked the goal early on with four shot attempts but was unable to find a hole in the Hilltoppers defense.

Andrew Fox (Freshman, Cambridge, England) scored in the 77th minute beating the keeper one-on-one off a through ball from Miles. Fox would score again in the 81st minute getting behind the defense off of a pass from Peter Gordon (Junior, Kansas City, Mo.) to tap the ball in, making it the Hilltoppers fifth goal of the match.

The Hilltoppers will be back in action Friday when they host UT-Permian Basin. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at the Lewis-Chen Family Field. Live audio and stats will be available on the St. Edward's Athletic Website.
