Hilltoppers drop 1-0 decision to TAMU-International

Box Score LAREDO, Texas – The St. Edward's men's soccer team battled hard throughout the match against Texas A&M-International Sunday afternoon, but would lose 1-0 in Laredo.

St. Edward's (3-4, 1-2HC) started the match off strong maintaining possession and making the first few attacks on goal but TAMU-International (5-1-1, 3-0 HC) did not back down. The Dustdevils quickly turned on their offensive pressure and in the 39th minute Diego Manzano-Cano heeled the ball into the net off of a rebounded save and, Adan Villavicencio had the assist.

The Hilltoppers had a few more chances in the first half, but couldn't find the back of the net.

In the second half, St. Edward's defense worked hard to protect the goal. Hilltopper keeper Mitch McKeefer (Senior, Plano, Texas) made three great saves preventing the Dustdevils from scoring.

Hilltoppers would make a few more runs but were unable to connect. It was a very physical match and both teams would leave the pitch with 15 total team fouls.

The Hilltoppers will be back in action Friday when they host West Texas A&M. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at the Lewis-Chen Family Field. Live audio and stats will be available on the St. Edward's Athletic Website.
