INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 14th ranked St. Edward's men's golf team shot a final round of 314 to finish in 12th place at the end of the two-day UIndy Brickyard Invitational at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course. The tournament hosted 16 ranked Division II teams.

The Hilltoppers (301-291-314=906) dropped four spots on the final day as they started the third round of action in eighth place.

No. 2 Barry (289-278-290=857) shot the low round of the day to catch #1 Nova Southeastern and capture the outright title. Nova Southeastern entered the final round with a six-shot lead.

JOSE HERNANDEZ finished tied with the low round of 77 for the day for the Hilltoppers. Hernandez (76-71-77=224) finished tied for 27th with teammate BRIAN SMITH. Smith was sitting comfortably in 12th place after two rounds of action, but a rough third round provoked a loss in leaderboard standings.

DAVID ARISMENDY and ANDRES RODAS finished the tournament tied for 45th place. They both finished the tournament with 229 total strokes. DREW BELL completed the tournament tied for 80th place.

“Obviously we had a very disappointing day and week.  It was our first event of the year and we will be better by the next time we tee it up,” Hilltopper head coach Todd Ohlmeyer said.

The Hilltoppers will be back in action on September 29-30 when they compete in the Macdonald Cup.  The two-day, 54-hole event will take place at the Yale Golf Course in New Haven, Conn.
