Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Six different Hilltoppers found the back of the net on Sunday afternoon, as St. Edward's produced a statement win over McMurry, 7-0. The seven goals scored were the most by St. Edward's since 202, when the Hilltoppers defeated Dallas Baptist, 7-1.
The Hilltoppers got on the board early and often, with
ANDREW FOX scoring the game's introductory goal. Fox headed the ball passed the goalkeeper for the goal,
COLETON STYMIEST provided the assist.
Fox scored his scored goal of the game and fifth of the season during the 10
th minute of action.
ANDERSON MCDANIEL delivered the assist. Stymiest helped increase the lead to 3-0 during the 35
th minute with his first goal of the season.
NATE COONS also scored his first collegiate goal during the match. Coons scored during the 43
rd minute, and St. Edward's went into halftime leading 4-0. St. Edward's outshot McMurry, 7-0 during the first 45-minute frame.
The Hilltoppers kept their aggressive mentality through the start of the second period. Several players had chances to increase the lead, but couldn't knock in a goal.
ADAM BONVILLE scored the fifth goal for St. Edward's during the 70
th minute. Bonville drove his shot past the keeper off a rebound from
KARL DEZOETEN's shot.
Minutes later,
DANIEL RILEY scored his sixth goal of the year and the sixth goal of the game. St. Edward's now led, 6-0.
JASON AIKEN assisted on Riley's goal.

CHAZ WASHINGTON scored the final goal of the game with just eight seconds remaining in regulation. This was Washington's first collegiate goal. McDaniel recorded his second assist for the contest and the Hilltoppers cruised to a 7-0 victory. Goalkeeper
JOHN KASCHAK earned his fourth win of the season.
St. Edward's outshot McMurry 20-2, and possessed a 13-2 shots on goal advantage as well. The game proved to be physical with 25 total fouls called, 14 coming from the Hilltoppers.
"The team played very good soccer today both defensively and on the attack, and deserved the win," head coach
Brian Young said. "It was a good start in the first half and we continued it for 90 minutes. Hopefully we will have a good week of training as we open our Heartland Conference against a strong Oklahoma Christian squad."
The Hilltoppers will be back in action on Saturday, as they return home to take on Oklahoma Christian in their Heartland Conference opener.
