Haught sets school record as Hilltoppers win Lady Rattler Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – HALEY HAUGHT destroyed the St. Edward's single round record of 68 as she shot a 64 during the final round of the Lady Rattler Invitational. Haught's performance lifted the Hilltoppers past #3 Tarleton State to win the first tournament of the spring season. St. Edward's defeated the TexAnns by 19 strokes.
 
Head coach Jennifer McNeil commented after the win, "This was a fantastic way to start our season, especially with such a loaded field. Everyone played relaxed and settled back into their tournament golf mentality which was nice to see."
 
Haught, the All-American, sank 10 birdies and an eagle on her way to the individual title and posting the new St. Edward's single round record of 64. She shot 13 strokes better than her previous round and finished the two-day tournament with an overall score of 141.

McNeil commented on the play of Haught, "I am thrilled for Haley (Haught) and her great round of 64. There are no words to describe how well she really played, but it was awesome to watch. I'm so proud of her."
 
Newcomer MARISSA BRANSBURG finished the tournament in the fourth spot individually. She improved on her first round score by seven strokes and shot a 72, good enough for even par. Bransburg found herself tied for second place with 23 pars during the tournament.
 
ALYSSA SMITH also enhanced her first round score and finished the second round with a 76 and an overall score of 154. Smith finished the tournament tied for eighth place and made 21 pars for the tournament.
 
TAYLOR MORENO completed the second round of play with a 79 and an overall score of 156 for a 14th place finish. Moreno finished the round with four birdies.
 
RYANNE HADDOW bettered her first round score by nine strokes. She finished the tournament with a two round total of 161 and finished tied for 29th. Haddow also made 23 pars for the tournament, which was second amongst the field.
 
ISABEL MORALES competed for the Hilltoppers as an individual golfer and finished in the top-40. She matched her first round total of 82 and completed the tournament with a two round total of 164.
 
St. Edward's led in the par-3 and par-4 scoring categories of the tournament. The Hilltoppers averaged a 3.10 score on all par-3 holes and a 4.31 average score on par-4 holes. St. Edward's also led with 20 total birdies and tied for the most pars at 101.
 
The Hilltoppers will be back in action on Monday when they host the first round of the St. Edwards Invitational. The two-day event will be at the 6,313-yard par-72 Grey Rock Golf Club in Austin, Texas.
