LAS CRUCES, N.M. – St. Edward's junior ELIOTT AZOULAY shot a one-over par 72 to finish tied for fifth and his Hilltoppers ended in 13th place at the WNMU Fall Intercollegiate Tuesday morning. The two-day, 36-hole tournament took place at the Par-71, 7,242-yard University Golf Course.

Azoulay, who started the day in third place, began his round on the 10th hole. After pars on the first two holes, Azoulay birdied the par-5, 12th hole. From there, he made par on the next three holes before a bogey at the 16th to fall back to even-par. He would then string together nine-straight pars before making only his third bogey of the tournament at hole eight. A par on his final hole put him at one-over par for the round and two-under for the tourney.

Azoulay (68-72=140) was just four strokes off of the lead as CSU-Monterey Bay's Carr Vernon (67-69=136) took home the individual title.

As a team, St. Edward's (292-294=586) finished ahead of conference rivals Oklahoma Christian (303-284=587), St. Mary's (293-299=592) and Lubbock Christian (308-308=616) who finished 14th, tied for 15th, and 23rd, respectively. Cal. St.-Monterey Bay won the team title in the 24-team and 120 player tourney at three-over par.

THOMAS HOLTZMAN (76-72=148) rebounded from round one to share second round team low score honors with Azouly at one-over par. He would tie for 56th place, along with teammate JOEY HEARN (74-74=148). DILLON VAN ESSEN (74-78=152) finished tied for 83rd place, while ANDREW SPEAR (79-76=155) tied for 95th place.

"Eliott had a great debut as a Hilltopper and I know this event will give him a lot of confidence," Head Coach Todd Ohlmeyer said. "While we obviously didn't get the result we were looking for this week, the future is bright for our program."

St. Edward's will be back in action Oct. 12-13, when they travel to take part in the Newman Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will take place at Crestview Country Club in Wichita, Kan.
