PORTALES, N.M. – The No. 6-ranked St. Edward's men's soccer team battled Eastern New Mexico to a 0-0 draw Saturday afternoon at the ENMU Soccer Field.
Senior goalkeeper
KEVIN LEIB made two saves in 110 minutes of action to save the tie. He now has 10 shutouts this season, and has not allowed a goal in 380 minutes.
The Hilltoppers improve to 12-1-1 overall and 8-1-1 in conference play. They now own a five-match unbeaten streak. Eastern New Mexico drops to 5-5-4 overall and 3-4-3 in the Heartland Conference. St. Edward's remains in first place in the south division, while Eastern New Mexico sits second in the west division.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- St. Edward's had back-to-back corner kicks in the sixth minute but failed to convert on either opportunity.
- The Hilltoppers produced a flurry of offense in the final seconds of the first half, but shots by DRAKE LOVELADY and JOSH TAYLOR did not find the net.
- DYLAN ARMSTRONG took another St. Edward's corner kick in the 89th minute but with no result.
- Leib made one of his saves in the 93rd minute to keep Eastern New Mexico off the board.
- St. Edward's turned it on in the final period, taking five shots and eight corner kicks before time expired.
HILLTOPPER NOTES
- The Hilltoppers outshot the Greyhounds 18-4 with 10 of their attempts on goal.
- Taylor and GRANT MOBLEY led the offensive effort with four shots and three shots, respectively.
- A total of six cautions were issued in the match, with one red card going against the Greyhounds.
- St. Edward's is now 7-1-2 in the all-time series against Eastern New Mexico.
