AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 14-ranked St. Edward's women's soccer team took down Rogers State 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Lewis-Chen Family Field.
 
The win extends the Hilltoppers' winning streak to six games. It is also the eighth shutout for SEU this season. St. Edward's (10-1-1, 9-0-1 HC) tied the Hillcats (5-8-1, 1-8-1) 1-1 earlier this season at Soldier Field in Claremore, Okla.
 
St. Edward's remains atop the Heartland Conference standings with 28 points, while Dallas Baptist is six points back in second place. The Lady Patriots only earned one point on Saturday with a draw against Newman.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Junior WHYTNEIGH DUFFIE scored the go-ahead goal in the third minute of action on a pass across the box from Carroll.
• Freshman TONI TEWES added to the lead in the 21st minute. She received a pass from Carroll and took a low shot that bounced over the goalkeeper's hands.
• Freshman SYDNEY MACK recorded the final tally in the 78th minute as she bent a shot from 18 yards into the upper-right corner of the goal.

 
HILLTOPPER NOTES

• The Hilltoppers outshot the Hillcats 24-4 with four shots on goal for St. Edward's and two for Rogers State.
• Duffie, Tewes, and Mack are all tied for third on the team with three goals each this season.
• Goalkeeper LORRIE SANTOY has not allowed a goal since Sept. 24 at Newman. The senior's shutout streak stands at 420 minutes.
• Carroll's pair of assists ties her for the team lead this season.
• St. Edward's is now 4-0-1 in the all time series against Rogers State.

"I think the commitment level and focus of our team really came out really fired up. We felt like we should have beaten them at their place. Obviously they had a good game plan going against us, and we tied 1-1. We don't use revenge as a factor, but I definitely think there was some motivation there from our team to put things right this game."
