DALLAS – Senior Ramir Burton scored 22 points
Saturday as St. Edward's suffered a 93-91 overtime loss to Colorado Christian at the Heartland/Rocky Mountain Conference Tip-Off.
Burton went 9-for-15 from the field and 3-for-6 from the free throw line. He had one three-pointer and four rebounds. Senior
JOHN GRAMLICH also had a big night with 18 points and three assists.
JAMES TAYLOR rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10.
St. Edward's falls to 0-1 while Colorado Christian improves to 1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- St. Edward's opened the game with a 14-0 run behind five points from ETHAN GILBERT.
- By halftime Colorado Christian had cut the Hilltoppers' lead to six.
- The Cougars opened the second half with a seven-point run that was stopped by a jumper from Taylor.
- With 14:46 to play, Gramlich sparked a 10-0 run to put St. Edward's up by 14.
- Colorado Christian battled back yet again and McGee made a layup with 21 seconds left to send the game into overtime.
- The Cougars opened overtime with back-to-back threes and never looked back.
HILLTOPPER NOTES
- The Hilltoppers outrebounded Colorado Christian 31-27.
- The last time St. Edward's started 0-1 was the 2009-10 season, head coach Andre Cook's first year on the hilltop.
- Burton's last 20-point game came last season on Feb. 11 against St. Mary's.
- St. Edward's has won the last two Heartland/Rocky Mountain Conference Tip-Offs.
