Final Results

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Junior JOEY HEARN had his best finish of the season as he ended tied for 14th place to lead St. Edward's to a fourth place finish in the St. Mary's Men's Invitational at The Dominion Country Club Tuesday morning.

Hearn (72-76-75=223) started his round off with a bang making a birdie on Hole 2. Through the next 15 holes, Hearn had an up-and-down day, making 11 pars and four bogeys. He finally carded another birdie on the par-5 18th hole, before finishing his round with a bogey on Hole 1. The tie for 14th place is Hearn's top finish of the season in which he has competed in four events.

ANDREW SPEAR (75-75-75=225) moved up six spot in the final round to finish tied for 22nd place, while ELIOTT AZOULAY (75-72-79=226) finished one stroke back in a tie for 28th place. JAY HOGAN (78-72-77=227) ended tied for 32nd place and THOMAS HOLTZMAN (74-72-82=228) finished tied for 34th place.

DILLON VAN ESSEN (75-75-79=229), playing as an individual, was tied for 36th place.

St. Edward's (296-291-306=893) dropped one spot to fourth place after the final round. Western New Mexico (300-286-305=891) stayed just a head of the Hilltoppers for third place and Southwestern Oklahoma State (295-298-294=887) finished in second. St. Mary's (291-283-291=865) defeated the field of 13 teams by 22 strokes on its home course.

"St. Mary's played an outstanding tournament this week for sure," head coach Todd Ohlmeyer said. "We are disappointed we didn't play a little better today. We did not capitalize on the downwind holes when the conditions worsened. There are definitely some positives, and we improved on what we did last week, but we still have some work to do before postseason. We picked up some important regional victories against Dallas Baptist and Cameron."

SW Oklahoma State's Stefan Idstam (72-66-71=209) defeated Cameron's Zander Winston (68-68-74=210) by one stroke to take home the individual crown.

The Hilltoppers will be back in action March 14-15 when they travel back to San Antonio to compete in the Rattler Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole tourney will take place at the Golf Club of Texas.
