LAKELAND, Fla. – Faced with probably the most difficult field of teams of the season, St. Edward's ended Tuesday's final round in 12th place in the Matlock Collegiate Classic at Lone Palm Golf Club. Hilltopper junior golfer ELIOTT AZOULAY continued his strong play, finishing tied for 20th.

ELIOTT AZOULAY (71-76-74=221) led the Hilltoppers with that tie for 20th place. Azoulay also had a team-best eight birdies during the tournament. He has now finished in at least the top-20 in three of the four tournaments he has appeared in for St. Edward's this season. That includes a win at the Newman Fall Invitational earlier this year.

Head Coach Todd Ohlmeyer had this to say about his junior golfer; "Eliott has done an outstanding job this year and continues to be a pivotal piece to our success."

With winds howling for the second-straight day, St. Edward's (299-303-310=912) had trouble adjusting as a team and dropped down to 12th place. The Hilltoppers did get the best of Georgia College (312-311-307=930), who is ranked nationally ahead of St. Edward's.

"Today was rather disappointing," Ohlmeyer said. "We had a good opportunity to post a good finish but stumbled. That being said there are a number of positives to take out of the week for us to build on. We will continue to improve each week."

JAY HOGAN (75-74-79=228) finished the tournament with the eighth-most pars (35) in the field. He ended tied for 39th place.

THOMAS HOLTZMAN (76-75-80=231) ended in a tie for 50th place. DILLON VAN ESSEN (77-79-81=237) and ANDREW SPEAR (82-78-77=237) both tied for 63rd place.

St. Leo (283-294-292=869) took home first-place honors, while Barry (283-297-297=877) and West Florida (293-295-289=877) tied for second place. St. Leo's Liam Ainsworth (70-70-75=215) hung on for the one-shot victory over three players finishing tied for second.

The Hilltoppers will be back in action Feb. 22-23 when they travel to compete in the Rattler Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be hosted by St. Mary's at the Dominion Country Club. Live scoring will be available on the Rattler Athletic Website.
