TURNING POINT
-Rogers State tallied the equalizing goal in the 65
th minute that seemed to push the team forward from that point on. In overtime, a foul by St. Edward's near the right sideline set up a free kick for the Hillcats. The free kick landed in a crowd of people just in front of the Hilltopper net. Jake Simpson came away with the ball and was able to tip it in to the left side of the goal for the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-St. Edward's started the scoring in the 42
nd minute when junior
PABLO COVARRUBIAS received a pass from
GRANT MOBLEY. Covarrubias tuned inside and ripped a line drive to the far post from just outside the box. The shot found the upper-90 for his second goal of the season.
HILLTOPPER NOTES
-St. Edward's outshot Rogers State, 14-12, but it was the Hillcats that had the better chances. The home team placed seven shots on goal, while the Hilltoppers tallied just three.
-The loss was St. Edward's first in the series history with Rogers State. SEU still leads, 3-1 overall.
-The defeat also ends the second-best start in program history at eight wins. The best was a 9-0 start in 1999.
