THE RUNDOWN
LUBBOCK, Texas – St. Edward's University couldn't find its offensive groove Thursday and Lubbock Christian took advantage at the Rip Griffin Center with a 25-13, 25-21, 29-27 win in Heartland Conference play.

After starting out 2-0 in league play the Hilltoppers (11-7, 2-3) have dropped three straight. SEU had just one kill in the first set, showed signs of life in sets two and three, but couldn't pull out a win to extend the match to four sets. Trailing 24-16 in set two, SEU rattled off five-straight points before LCU (5-12, 2-3) ended the run on a Hilltopper attacking error to take the set.

In the final set, the Hilltoppers built a 23-17 lead, but LCU scored seven-straight points to take a 24-23 lead before eventually taking the final set 29-27.

HIGHLIGHTS
• Freshman MADDIE MIKSCH had a season-high six kills to lead the Hilltoppers.
• KATIE MARTIN led the Hilltoppers defensively with 16 digs marking the 30th time in her career that the senior has recorded double-digit digs.

STAT OF THE GAME II
-.036 – LCU held St. Edward's to its lowest hitting percentage of the season at -.036 as the Hilltoppers had 25 kills and 30 errors on 139 total attacks.

"We struggled offensively tonight, and you can credit LCU, but we also were not playing even close to our capability. The bright spot was, we plugged in some freshman when our upper classmen weren't responding, and I thought they played really well; especially JACQUE LOZIER, MADDIE MIKSCH and OLIVIA ROME. You can't hit like we did tonight and expect to win in the Heartland Conference."

SEU will look to snap the skid in a non-conference matchup in Odessa Saturday at 1 p.m. vs. UTPB at the Falcon Dome.
