THE RUNDOWN
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The St. Edward's University women's basketball team dropped its first true road game of the season Friday in a 56-43 loss to Colorado Mesa inside Brownson Arena.

The Hilltoppers (3-3) and Mavericks (5-0) were tied 25-25 at halftime, but CMU's 23-3 run in the third quarter proved too much for SEU.

Brooke Panfili led St. Edward's with eight first-half points while Isabel Hernandez scored four points with two steals. Despite being held to 33-percent shooting from the floor in the first half, SEU used a 9-0 run in the second quarter to make it a tie game at the half.

After the break, Mesa came out shooting 46 percent from the floor while St. Edward's shot just 11 percent as CMU took a commanding 48-28 lead into the final period.

SEU outscored the Mavericks 15-8 in the fourth quarter, but it would not be enough.
