THE RUNDOWN
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The St. Edward's University women's basketball team dropped its opener at the Daytona Beach Shootout Monday as it fell to Angelo State 82-53 inside the ICI Center on the campus of Embry-Riddle.

Sophomore guard Lexi Cunningham led the Hilltoppers (6-6) with 13 points while Isabel Hernandez scored in double digits as well with 11 points. ABBY HOPPER led the way on the boards with 10 rebounds.

SEU scored 35 points in the second half including 21 points in the third quarter with Hernandez scoring nine of the 21. However, Angelo State (6-2) used 25 points in the first period and 25 more in the third to pull away with the win.

• St. Edward's is 8-17 in the all-time series with the Rambelles.
• Hopper's last game with double-digit rebounds came Jan. 28, 2017 against Newman.
• Hopper has one double-digit rebounding game this season and four in her career.
• Cunningham surpassed 250-career points and 100 points for the season Monday against ASU.
• Cunningham's 13 points mark her fourth double-digit scoring game this season and ninth of her career.
• Hernandez has scored in double digits eight times this season.
• HALEY JOLY recorded the 80th steal of her career and set a new career-high for steals in a season with 26.

"I think the first quarter kind of just set the tone for the game. They had 25 points in that quarter and there were only a couple of times we made them run their offense. The rest of their points came off second chances and in transition. When we actually made them run something in the first half, we did a decent job. We didn't do a great job of keeping them off the glass, and I think that was the biggest thing."
