THE RUNDOWN

RUSSELVILLE, Ark. – The St. Edward's University volleyball team swept Christian Brothers 25-16, 25-17, 25-15 Saturday afternoon after Harding took a match from the Hilltoppers 25-20, 25-18, 26-24 in the morning. SEU leaves the Arkansas Tech Tournament with a 2-2 mark on the weekend and an 8-4 overall record.

ALEXA MCANDREW's 15 kills were the bright spot in the morning's loss to the Bison, but SEU hit just .039 as a team and Harding improved to 12-1 on the season.

MELISSA MCNEIL pounded out a .643 hitting percentage and tied for the team lead with 10 kills along with KATE HENDRIX. JULIA HARTLEY and MADISON HEALD's combined 33 assists paced the third-best hitting effort of the season for SEU as the Hilltoppers posted a .314 hitting mark.

HIGHLIGHTS
NICOLE PETERS led SEU with 10 total blocks in the loss to Harding, helping the Hilltoppers out-block the Bison 11-9.
JULIA HARTLEY picked up the 600th dig of her career vs. Harding.
ALEXA MCANDREW reached 250 career digs with her sixth vs. CBU.
• McAndrew's 15 kills and 12 digs vs. Harding gave her four career double-doubles; it was her 11th career match with double-digit kills and 10th with double-digit digs.
KATIE MARTIN's second kill vs. Harding gave the senior 700 for her career.
• Martin's service ace vs. CBU was the 40th of her career.
• Martin's 18 digs in the loss to Harding was the 26th match of her career with double-digit digs.
KATE HENDRIX's first kill vs. CBU was the 400th of her career.
• Hendrix's 10 kills vs. CBU came on a .391 hitting percentage, and it was the 10th match of her career with at least 10 kills.
MELISSA MCNEIL's 10 kills marked the second time this season the freshman has recorded double-digit kills.

STAT OF THE GAME I
.314 – SEU hit .314 vs. CBU to post its third-highest hitting percentage of the year.

STAT OF THE GAME II
.643 – MELISSA MCNEIL hit .643, which was the highest hitting mark among SEU players this season with at least 10 kills.

"It was a nice way to finish the weekend. Overall, I'm pleased with a .500 weekend considering the level of competition at this tournament. I'm proud of this team for coming back offensively after this morning's loss. We started with serving aggressively and passed well. Outstanding performance from MELISSA MCNEIL offensively and defensively. [Kate] Hendrix and [Madison] McClurg hit very well. It is a process and I feel we are making the right steps for being ready for conference.

St. Edward's opens Heartland Conference play at home Thursday vs. St. Mary's in a Battle of the Saints.
