THE RUNDOWN
AUSTIN, Texas. – The University of Arkansas-Fort Smith improved to 3-0 in Heartland Conference play with a 21-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-20 win over St. Edward's (11-6, 2-2) Saturday at the RCC. Autumn Reese led UAFS' (12-5, 3-0) defensive effort with a match-high 44 digs to highlight the win.
SEU committed fewer errors across the board than its opponents, but the Lions held the advantage in kills, attack percentage and digs to take the victory. UAFS recorded 61 kills as a team on a .196 hitting mark while SEU hit .146 with 52 kills. Defensively Reese's 44 digs contributed to 112 Lions digs, which marked the most this season by an SEU opponent.
In the losing effort,
KATIE MARTIN led the Hilltoppers with 14 kills while
NICOLE PETERS and Hate Hendrix added nine apiece. Martin (14k, 20d) and
JULIA HARTLEY (27a, 20d) each had double-doubles for SEU.

JULIA HARTLEY hit a pair of milestones in Saturday's match; her 21st assist marked her 1,000th career assist, and she recorded the 25th double-double of her career with 27 assists and 20 digs.
• In addition to her 21st career double-double (14k, 20d),
KATIE MARTIN's 20th dig of the match was the 700th of her career.

MORGAN BECKHAM surpassed the 1,500-career digs mark in the match and went over 30 digs (33) for the 12th time in her career.
• SEU recorded double-digit blocks as a team for the seventh time this season, and
MIKAYLA PARKER led the way with six total blocks (two solo).

NICOLE PETERS tied a season-high with nine kills and led SEU in hitting percentage at a .304 clip.
