THE RUNDOWN

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – JAMES TAYLOR's bucket with 35 seconds remaining broke an 81-all tie and St. Edward's held on for an 85-81 win Saturday at The Eagles Nest over Oklahoma Christian (5-9, 1-2).

Five SEU (12-4, 2-2) players scored in double figures with SEAN WATKINS leading with 17 points, Taylor added 16 off the bench and LUCAS DORIA made the most of his first collegiate start with career highs in points and rebounds with 13 and nine, respectively.

Seventeen lead changes and 12 score ties were the story of the see-saw game. However, a late run by the Hilltoppers helped seal the road victory. DORIAN LOPEZ began an 11-0 run against his former team with a bucket with 8:14 remaining to give SEU a 69-68 lead. A Watkins 3-pointer and buckets from Taylor, COREY SHERVILL and another from Lopez built a 78-68 lead with 4:28 to play.

From there, OC responded with a 13-3 run over the next 3:29 to knot the score at 81, but Taylor's seventh field goal gave the Hilltoppers the lead. The Eagles missed their final four field goal attempts and LANDON GOESLING added two free throws with 12 seconds left to seal the game.
