AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's suffered their first home loss in over a year, falling 2-0 to Newman University Thursday afternoon.
A scoreless first half gave way to aggressive attacks on both sides of the pitch in the second half. Newman was able to capitalize first, scoring in the 62nd minute. Colleen Howland, assisted by Vanessa Ortiz, was able to beat
ANNABEL SWEENEY to put the Jets up 1-0.
Grace Linton rocketed the ball into goal on a one-touch from Colleen Howland to put Newman up 2-0.
Despite a few dangerous plays from the Hilltoppers the rest of the way, St. Edward's was held scoreless to suffer their first conference loss of the year.
St. Edward's drops to 7-3-2 on the year and 7-1-1 in conference while Newman improves to 9-1-3 overall and 5-1-3 in the Heartland.
SEU remains at home to face Rogers State on Saturday for a noon kick.
