Box Score SAN ANTONIO, Texas - SEU's typically prolific offense was quieted Thursday as St. Mary's defeated the Hilltoppers 3-0.
St. Edward's was slow to start, setting the stage for a tough night as they were held to .000 attack percentage to drop the first set 25-18.
SEU started the second set well, leading 15-13 after a kill from
MIKAYLA PARKER. St. Mary's then went on a 12-6 run to close the set and steal the win 25-21.
The Hilltoppers again started well in the third set, posting a three point lead early, 8-5. St. Mary's was able to even the count 8-8 and the lead bounced back and forth the remainder of the way as the two teams posted 12 ties in the set. The Rattlers got hot at the right point and closed the set 26-24 to finish the 3-0 match win.
Parker led with seven kills and a .250 attack percentage while
MELISSA MCNEIL and
LAURA DOOCY posted five each.
MORGAN BECKHAM logged 14 digs while Parker continued her domination at the net with seven block assists.
SEU falls to 12-9 on the year and 2-3 in the Heartland with the loss while St. Mary's improves to 10-10 overall and 4-1 in conference play. The Hilltoppers remain on the road to face Texas A&M International in Laredo on Saturday at noon.
