PORTALES, N.M. – SEU was unable to snap ENMU's win-streak Saturday afternoon, falling 2-1.
ENMU was aggressive at the outset, recording seven fouls in the first 13 minutes and SEU took advantage with four shots and two corner kicks in the following four minutes. All their work finally paid off in the 22nd minute as a familiar duo,
GEORGE MURRAY and
DYLAN ARMSTRONG, teamed up to put the Hilltoppers on top. Armstrong played the ball into the box while Murray sent it home from left of goal, putting SEU up 1-0.
Eastern New Mexico evened the score just seconds before halftime as Julian Trapp, assisted by Marvin Lewin, scored with three seconds remaining to tie the score 1-1.
Trapp stuck again in the 60th minute for the eventual game winner as St. Edward's was unable to score the equalizer as their shots were just off target.
St. Edward's led 10-8 in shots and 4-1 in corner kicks in the match while
WILLIAM TUFFIN posted three saves.
SEU falls to 6-8-1 on the year and 5-6-1 in the Heartland. They return home to face Oklahoma Christian on Thursday at 3 pm.
