LUBBOCK, Texas – St. Edward's made the most of their looks at goal while the defense remained as sharp as ever to beat Lubbock Christian 2-0 Saturday afternoon.
 
SARAH GUNDERSON continues to be a spark plug for the Hilltopper offense, driving into the box and netting the first goal of the game in the 31st minute. ANNABEL SWEENEY was busy in goal as the Chaps took ten shots in the frame. Sweeney's four saves allowed SEU to keep a 1-0 lead at the half.
 
ELIANNA CHAVEZ, assisted by SABRINA CONE, gave St. Edward's some breathing room in the 69th minute. Cone's crossing ball into the box was put home by Chavez in front of goal, giving SEU the 2-0 lead that would hold until the final buzzer.
 
Sweeney ended the match with five saves to record her tenth win, eleventh shutout, of the season.
 
SEU improves to 10-3-2 on the year and 10-1-1 in the Heartland. They return to action to face Dallas Baptist in Dallas on Thursday at 5 pm.
