LAREDO, Texas – Seven games into the conference season St. Edward's remains unbeaten in conference play, defeating Texas A&M International 1-0 Thursday to improve to 6-2-2 on the year and 6-0-1 in the HC.
Neither team was able to score in the first half as SEU's offense was stifled, held to just three shots in the frame.
Head Coach Nick Cowell refocused his group at halftime and they exploded for ten shots in the second half. It took just seven minutes in the second half for the Hilltoppers to score as KATHERINE WHITMAN's shot deflected off a defender and into the back of the net for the game winner.
St. Edward's led 13-6 in shots and 9-0 in corner kicks. ANNABEL SWEENEY posted three saves to record the shutout.
The Hilltoppers return home to face Dallas Baptist on Saturday for a noon kickoff.
