Box Score SAN ANGELO, Texas – The St. Edward's Men's Basketball team is off to an impressive start, winning every game to kick off the season. The Hilltoppers continued their run with an 85-68 win over Eastern New Mexico Friday.
Eastern New Mexico controlled the early parts of the game and were able to hold off St. Edward's until late in the first half. SEU took the lead for the first time in the game, 29-28, with 5:02 left in the half. The lead was part of a 13-2 run by the Hilltoppers but ENMU was able to close the gap just before halftime, sending St. Edward's into the break with a slight 43-41 advantage.
SEU never allowed Eastern New Mexico in the game in the second half, fending off any runs to push their lead to 18, 65-47, with 12 minutes remaining. The Hilltoppers saw their lead climb to as many as 20 while never allowing the Greyhounds closer than 13 points in the final 13 minutes of the contest.
AUGUST HAAS led with 19 points on 7-9 shooting, going 1-1 from three point range and 4-7 from the free throw line. COREY SHERVILL added 13, RYAN GARZA 12 and LUCAS DORIA 11 in the win. DORIAN LOPEZ led SEU with 11 boards while Shervill added six.
St. Edward's improves to 4-0 on the year and remain on the road to face Angelo State University on Saturday at 7 PM.
