BALANCED ATTACK LAUNCHES HILLTOPPERS TO VICTORY

AUSTIN, Texas – Twelve of the 13 players that saw action Tuesday evening scored as St. Edward's took down Arlington Baptist 87-46 to win their third straight and move to 6-1 on the season.

Both teams were cautious to start the game, but SEU quickly took control, closing on a 16-3 run in the final 5:30 of the first quarter to take a commanding lead, 24-9, into the second quarter.

The Hilltopper offense continued to attack but the Patriots were finally able to get hot after shooting just 15.8% from the floor in the first quarter and being held to just three field goals. St. Edward's never allowed ABU closer than 12 points, however, 36-24, with 2:44 remaining before the halftime buzzer sounded to send SEU into the locker room with a 14-point lead, 40-26.

With a three to open the third Arlington Baptist pulled within 11, 40-29, but the Hilltoppers quickly built on their lead to go up by 19, 50-31, with 5:12 left. SEU outscored the Patriots 22-12 in the frame to lead by 24, 62-38, heading into the fourth.

It was smooth sailing the rest of the way as the St. Edward's lead continued to climb throughout the frame. What started as a 24-point lead quickly went to 30 and then eventually 40 as the Hilltoppers outscored ABU 25-8 in the fourth quarter.

ISABEL HERNANDEZ led with 13 points and 10 boards and was just four assists shy of the triple-double on the night. ABBY HOPPER added 12 points and eight boards while the SEU bench came up huge, accounting for 48 of the Hilltopper's points. GABRIELA BOSQUEZ, LEXI CUNNINGHAM and FALYN TAYLOR all contributed 11 points each.

St. Edward's remains at home to face Huston-Tillotson on Thursday evening. Tip is set for 5:30 pm.
