THE RUNDOWN

AUSTIN, Texas – Tarleton State improved to 12-0 and St. Edward's dropped to 0-7 on the season after the Texans swept a doubleheader Wednesday at Diane Daniels Field, winning 5-0 in game one and 8-4 in game two.

After a three-hit shutout tossed by the visitors' Haley Freyman in game one, the Hilltoppers got their bats going in game two with 10 hits, including SEU's first two home runs of the season from KAYLA APPLEBY and Kari Rodriguez. However, TSU's fast start with four runs in the first and three runs in the second was too much to overcome.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
• SEU reliever REAGAN CARTER allowed just two hits over the final four innings and did not allow a run.
• Kari Rodriguez's single in the third inning was the 30th hit of her career.
• OLIVIA BURDICK passed 150 career innings pitched with her three-inning outing for SEU.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
• KAYLA APPLEBY had her first multi-hit game of the season (22nd in her career) with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate.
• Appleby's solo homer in the first inning was the eighth of her career.
• Kari Rodriguez hit 2-for-4 at the plate giving her two multiple-hit games on the season and seven for her career.
• Rodriguez's solo home run in the third inning was the fourth of her career.
• VALERIE BRANT collected the first multi-hit game of her career with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate.

STAT OF THE GAME I
3 – Kari Rodriguez has three of SEU's five extra-base hits this season after her solo homer in game two vs. Tarleton State Wednesday.

THEY SAID IT
SEU Head Coach Meghan Mullin on a good offensive performance in game two …
"I think we were doing a really good job of attacking at the plate. We had 10 hits and that's phenomenal. Now, we just need to make sure were having those key hits when we have runners in scoring position, that we are advancing runners, and that we are getting them in."

Mullin on stringing offense together …
"I think we can see in our number of hits that we have that it's not ability as much as it is mental approach, so that's going to be a key focus for us as we prep for conference next week."

Mullin on Carter's work out of the bullpen in game one …
"I think she did a really good job of locating her spots and attacking them. Sometimes, attacking them a little bit too over the plate, but staying aggressive and that's what we want to see from her."

WHAT'S NEXT
The Hilltoppers open conference play on the road Tuesday at Lubbock Christian with a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
