THE RUNDOWN
LUBBOCK, Texas – St. Edward's fell to Lubbock Christian in both games of a doubleheader Tuesday to open conference play at PlainsCapital Park. LCU's Monique Francois tossed a no-hitter to help the Lady Chaps win 3-0 in game one and swept the doubleheader with a 9-4 win in game two.
 
Francois struck out four and walked just two to lift LCU (8-3, 2-0 HC) in the first game. REAGAN CARTER pitched well in the losing effort for SEU (0-9, 0-2), going the distance and striking out seven, but LCU got runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings to support Francois' shutout.
 
In game two the Lady Chaps jumped out early with six runs in the first two innings. The Hilltoppers rallied in the top of the third with two runs to cut the lead to four, but LCU answered with two more in the bottom half of the inning. Lindzi Clemmer drove in four runs for the home team including a 3-run blast in the second inning for her seventh homer of the year.
 
Freshman VALERIE BRANT had two hits and two RBIs while Kari Rodriguez scored two runs for SEU in the losing effort.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
• SARA MACHADO's RBI single in the third inning was the 10^th hit of her career.
• VALERIE BRANT had the first multi-RBI game of her career; she had an RBI groundout in the fourth and an RBI single in the sixth.
• Brant was 2-for-4 at the plate with two singles, it was her second multiple hit game of her career.
• REAGAN CARTER had 12 strikeouts in 10.2 innings of work combined between the two games.
