AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's University rightfielder
SARA MACHADO celebrated her 20
th birthday by belting a home run on a full count over the leftfield in wall in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Hilltoppers a walkoff win Monday over Texas A&M-Kingsville, 2-1. SEU (5-34) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (22-20) split a doubleheader with the Javelinas taking game one 4-0 at Diane Daniels Field.
In game two, Kari Rodriguez's eighth extra-base hit in her last eight games came in the bottom of the sixth inning when her solo home run gave SEU a 1-0 lead. Needing just three outs to secure their fifth win of the season, St. Edward's saw TAMK pinch hitter Ileana Aleman knot up the score with an RBI single in the top of the seventh. Avoiding extra innings, Machado, first up for SEU in the bottom of the seventh took Javelinas starter Sarah Gilbert deep down the leftfield line for her second home run of the season to secure the victory.
In game one, TAMK's Breana Smith threw a four-hit shutout to lead the Javelina's while Lauren Oatman hit a two-run single in the top of the first, sparking a three-run opening frame to propel the visitors to victory.

KEELY FRAZIER pitched a season-high seven innings in the loss and allowed just three earned runs in the complete-game loss.
