CLAREMORE, Okla. - The St. Edward's women's soccer conference win streak continued Thursday as the Hilltoppers downed Rogers State 2-0. The win improves SEU to 5-2-1 on the year and 5-0 in Heartland Conference play.
INDIA WENTZ needed just 42 seconds to put the Hilltoppers in the lead, tapping home the crossing ball in front of goal on the first possession of the match.
ANNABEL SWEENEY was outstanding in goal with four saves in the frame to keep the lead intact heading into halftime.
Rogers State came out of halftime on a mission, but SEU had the answer every time. SABRINA CONE added to the Hilltopper lead by netting a penalty kick in the 57th minute.
The Hilltopper defense controlled the final thirty minutes, facing seven second half shots and 17 total. Sweeney ended the night with five saves to record the shutout.
St. Edward's remains on the road to face Newman on Saturday at noon.
