WICHITA, Kansas - The St. Edward's women's soccer team remains unbeaten in the Heartland Conference after finishing in a scoreless, double overtime tie with Newman Saturday.
SEU started strong with three shots on goal in the first 27 minutes, but Newman's Jackie Lari made the necessary saves to keep the game scoreless headed into halftime. Lari's counterpart,
ANNABEL SWEENEY, notched two saves of her own in the first and second half to force overtime.
Neither team was able to get a solid look at goal in the first overtime frame. St. Edward's was aggressive in the second overtime and had three shots on goal in the ten minute frame, but Lari continued to have the answer to end the match scoreless.
SARAH GUNDERSON led offensively with three shots, two on frame, while
ELIANNA CHAVEZ posted two more shots on goal for the Hilltoppers.
Sweeney notched four saves to keep the clean sheet, her sixth of the season.
SEU remains on the road to face Texas A&M International on Thursday, October 4 at 7 pm.
