Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Hilltoppers trounce UTPB 7-0 to stay unbeaten in LSC

AUSTIN – St. Edward's women's soccer continued their impressive play Thursday afternoon, downing UT Permian Basin, 7-0, at Lewis-Chen Family Field. With the win the Hilltoppers improve to 5-0 in Lone Star Conference play and 6-4 overall.

Once the Hilltoppers' offense got rolling, nothing was going to stop them. INDIA WENTZ kicked things off in the 24th minute, putting home a low crossing ball from ELI CHAVEZ. REAGAN DYKES and ASHLEY WILSON nearly mirrored the goal just four minutes later to put SEU on top 2-0.

Dykes struck again in the 40th minute, assisted by GEORGIA FOGARTY, striking the ball off the near post and into the side netting to send the Hilltoppers into halftime with a three goal lead.

Play was rarely in the St. Edward's defensive third of the field in the second half as every Hilltopper got into the action offensively. SARAH PRESTON tapped home JENNA LIPSCOMB's lofting ball into the box in the 50th minute and started up the barrage of goals in the second half.

Chavez and Wentz teamed up again in the 56th minute, this time with Chavez one touching Wentz's low crossing ball into the back of the net. ALLY FLOTH scored her first goal in the 70th minute, taking advantage of a poor clear by UTPB to put SEU up 6-0, while ASHLEY WILSON, assisted by HANNAH ERB, made it a 7-0 final with a goal in the 71st minute.

SEU's defense was spot-on as well, keeping the Falcons without a shot or corner kick in 90 minutes of action.

St. Edward's returns to action on Saturday, facing Lubbock Christian at 2:30 p.m.
