AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's faced their toughest conference match-up thus far this season, ending Saturday's Lone Star Conference contest in a 1-1 draw with Lubbock Christian University.
Just two minutes into the game St. Edward's took control as
SARAH PRESTON scored on a failed clear by the Chaps' goalkeeper after a Hilltopper corner.
Lubbock Christian pressed hard in the second half, posting six shots to the Hilltopper's two. SEU was just 15 minutes from their sixth consecutive LSC victory, but LCU's Celia Duarte had other plans, scoring her sixth goal of the season to tie the game 1-1.
St. Edward's controlled the first overtime, getting two good looks at goal but were unable to score the game winner as the contest rolled into the second overtime. It was all SEU in the second overtime as well as they took four shots and held LCU to zero, but once again the Hilltoppers were just off the mark as time expired.
SEU moves to 6-4-1 on the season and 5-0-1 in Lone Star Conference play. They return to action on Thursday, October 17, facing Eastern New Mexico in Portales, N.M. at 6:30 pm.
