AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's continued their dominant weekend of play, making quick work of Texas A&M International Saturday, winning 25-8, 25-16, 25-17.
St. Edward's wasted no time taking control of the game, starting out on an 8-0 run. SEU never looked back, watching their lead balloon to 17 by the end of the set, winning 25-8. The Hilltoppers hit .500 for the set and held the Dust Devils to -.152, forcing ten errors and allowing just five kills.
Set two was tight until SEU scored three straight points midway through the set to take a crucial four point lead, 17-13. A TAMIU timeout stopped the run, but couldn't keep St. Edward's from winning the set 25-16.
It was much of the same as the Hilltoppers continued to execute offensively, building a slight lead that proved to be the difference maker, winning the final set 25-17.
ALEXA MCANDREW led the attack with 10 kills and no errors for an impressive .500 attack percentage. MELISSA MCNEIL added eight kills and LAURA DOOCY seven. EMILY TRAN and MADISON HEALD were strong running the offense, posting 18 and 14 assists, respectively. NIKKI GRANT led with 12 digs while Doocy posted a team high five blocks.
St. Edward's improves to 10-6 on the year and 5-3 in Lone Star Conference play. They return to action on October 18, facing Dallas Baptist University at 6 pm.
