AUSTIN – St. Edward's women's soccer extended their unbeaten conference streak with a 2-0 win over UT Tyler Thursday evening.
St. Edward's spent most of the first half in the attacking third of the field but it wasn't until the 44th minute that SEU finally saw their hard work pay off. REAGAN DYKES blasted a shot that ricocheted off a Patriot defender and landed at the foot of GEORGIA FOGARTY. Fogarty then took a shot that deflected off a defender and into the back of the net to send the Hilltoppers into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
As the second half got underway it was inevitable that St. Edward's would add to their total and they did just that in the 57th minute. JENNA LIPSCOMB lofted a ball into the box and SARAH GUNDERSON headed it home across goal, putting SEU up 2-0.
SEU was knocking on the door again just as the storms began to roll onto the Hilltop, forcing the game to be suspended. With darkness looming and additional storms tracking into the area, the game was called final after playing at least 70 minutes.
St. Edward's dominated the box score, allowing just one shot and zero corner kicks while posting 12 shots and six corners on the afternoon.
SEU improves to 9-4-1 on the season and 8-0-1 in Lone Star Conference play. They close out their regular-season home schedule on Saturday, facing Texas A&M-Commerce at 2:30 pm.
