LAREDO – St. Edward's high-powered offense showed-up in full force Thursday night to defeat No. 10 Texas A&M International, 4-2.
Just six minutes into the contest SEU gained control as
GEORGE MURRAY, assisted by
CHEN ADJEI, found the back of the net.
MATTHEW PARKER, assisted by
LEONARDO RIBEIRO, made it a two goal lead in the 37th minute and the Hilltoppers rode the 2-0 advantage into halftime.
TAMIU struck first in the second half, scoring in the 55th minute, but St. Edward's quickly got back to work as Parker struck again with another goal in the 71st minute.
IZAAC ZAUSCH, assisted by
GRANT VERNON, gave SEU even more breathing room in the 82nd minute with a goal.
The Dust Devils capitalized on a penalty kick late in the match, but the Hilltopper defense took care of the rest to secure the win.
SEU improves to 2-4-1 on the year and 2-0-0 in Lone Star Conference play while TAMIU falls to 4-1-1 overall, 1-1-0 in LSC action. The Hilltoppers return to action on Saturday, facing St. Mary's att 5 p.m. in San Antonio.
