DALLAS, Texas – St. Edward's women's soccer's run in theLone Star Conference championship came to a close as the Hilltoppers fell 2-1 to rival Dallas Baptist University Sunday afternoon.
DBU struck first with a penalty kick in the 22nd minute, but SEU's SARAH GUNDERSON was able to even the count minutes before halftime, scoring unassisted in the 38th minute to tie the game a one a piece at the break.
The Patriots got early shots in the second half and were finally able to capitalize as Delaney Schmidt netted what would be the eventual game winner in the 59th minute. The Hilltoppers had their looks at goal but they slid just off-frame.
St. Edward's trailed 15-6 in shots and 7-3 in corner kicks in the loss. They drop to 13-6-2 on the season and will await the NCAA selection show on Monday, November 18 at 6 pm to see if they earned a slot in the tournament. The selection show can be watched at NCAA.com.
