Box Score WICHITA FALLS, Texas – St. Edward's men's soccer had a strong showing against #25 MSU but were unable to net a goal despite outshooting the Mustangs 18-5 Thursday evening.
St. Edward's controlled the first half, rocketing-off nine shots while holding MSU to three in the frame. The Hilltoppers continued to press and posted two more shots just off frame in the opening minutes of the second half.
In the 56th minute the Mustangs seized control of the contest as Sergio Lara netted the first goal of the match.
St. Edward's was able to get numerous looks at goal in the second half, but MSU's defense seemed to have the answer to every attack to hand the Hilltoppers the 1-0 loss.
SEU not only dominated the shot count, they also led 10-2 in corner kicks.
SEU drops to 6-7-3 on the season and 5-2-2 in Lone Star Conference play, falling into a tie for fourth place in the conference with one game to play. They return to action on Saturday, facing Oklahoma Christian at 1 pm in Oklahoma City to close LSC play.
