Box Score OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – With postseason implications hanging in the balance the St. Edward's men's soccer team won a crucial contest over Oklahoma Christian 3-2 Saturday.
With the win the Hilltoppers close the regular season with a 6-2-2 Lone Star Conference mark and currently sit in third place with 20 points, two ahead of Midwestern State and three ahead of Lubbock Christian.
The Eagles stunned SEU with a goal in the 13
th minute, but St. Edward's was able to get the equalizer in the 25
th minute as
PARKER FYFE found the back of the net after having his penalty kick saved.
The second half was full of action as SEU's
GEORGE MURRAY, assisted by
GRANT VERNON, put the Hilltoppers on top in the 54
th minute. OCU evened the count in the 69
th minute but St. Edward's refused to be denied the victory and scored the game-winner in the 70
th minute off the boot of
FABIAN PALLARES.
OC led slightly in shots 15-14 but SEU took the advantage in corners 8-4.
The Hilltoppers improve to 7-7-3 on the year and will likely host their first round contest on Tuesday at noon with their matchup yet to be determined.
