AUSTIN – With an 85-66 win over Eastern New Mexico Saturday the #12 St. Edward's men's basketball team pushed their win streak to three and remain unbeaten at home to improve to 9-1 on the season and 3-1 in Lone Star Conference play.
The Greyhounds were not intimated, aggressively defending SEU and hung close in the first half. The Hilltoppers led by nine, 43-34, at the break.
After a tight start to the second half St. Edward's found its stride and scored eight unanswered points to go up 17, 63-46, with just under 12 minutes to go.
AUGUST HAAS' layup with 8:20 remaining gave the Hilltoppers their largest lead of the game, 21 points, 73-52.
ENMU never pulled within striking distance the remainder of the way as SEU secured the win.
ASHTON SPEARS led with 23 points and five steals while the Hilltoppers shot 44.4% from the floor.
LUCAS DORIA came off the bench to post 14 points while
JAKE KRAFKA posted his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
AUGUST HAAS also contributed 14 points, shooting an impressive 6-9 from the field and 2-3 from the free throw line and added in seven assists while leading the Hilltopper offense that committed just nine turnovers.
St. Edward's remains at home to host their final game of 2019, taking on conference-rival St. Mary's at 3 pm on Saturday, December 21.
