Box Score 2 KINGSVILLE, Texas – St. Edward's dropped a mid-week double header to Texas A&M-Kingsville Tuesday, falling 6-4 and 8-0 (5).
GAME ONE: TAMUK 6 – SEU 4
After a scoreless first inning the Javelinas rattled off three runs on five hits in the second inning. TAMUK added another in the fifth and two in the sixth to take a commanding 6-0 lead heading into the final frame.
Despite the big deficit the Hilltoppers got to work at the plate. Pinch hitter
CALLI BIRCH did her job to leadoff, blasting a double to left center.
KATHRYN CONNELLY reached on an error to move Birch to third.
With two outs and their backs against the wall SEU rattled off four runs on four straight singles but could not keep the rally going long enough to even the score, falling 6-4.
TY'ERYKA PRESTON and
VALERIE BRANT both went 2-3 from the plate with one RBI to lead St. Edward's.
OLIVIA BURDICK suffered the loss, allowing four runs on nine hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
GAME TWO: TAMUK 8 – SEU 0 (5)
Texas A&M - Kingsville used a steady stream of runs in game two to build an 8-0 advantage heading into the fifth inning. SEU was unable to replicate the magic from game one and suffered the run rule loss in game two.
REAGAN CARTER garnered the loss, allowing six runs on six hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
The Hilltoppers fall to 1-3 on the season with the losses. They return to action on Friday, February 8 to face #14 Tarleton State at 2:30 pm in San Antonio.
