LUBBOCK, Texas – St. Edward's Men's Basketball's deadly perimeter shooting was held at bay as the Hilltoppers hit just six from long range, falling 68-60 to Lubbock Christian Saturday afternoon.
LCU led by six early in the game but SEU was able to take the lead 13-12, on
COREY SHERVILL's three with 11:26 to go in the half. The lead bounced back and forth until the Hilltoppers went up by five, 21-16, with 7:28 to play.
The Chaps closed the half on a 13-4 run to take a four-point lead into the break, 29-25.
SEU started the half well and quickly tied the game 31-31 two minutes in and eventually led by five, 50-45, with 8:47 to go. St. Edward's offense went virtually silent the rest of the way, however, scoring just four field goals in the final seven minutes to suffer the loss.
AUGUST HAAS led with 18 points, going 7-13 from the floor and 2-6 from three-point range with five assists and six steals. Shervill added 14 points and
ASHTON SPEARS 12.
St. Edward's falls to 25-3 on the year and 14-2 in Heartland Conference play but remain the #1 seed in the conference tournament set to begin on Thursday. SEU will play on Thursday, March 7 at 7:30 pm against the #8 seed, St. Mary's.
