OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. –
JULISA ORTEGA scattered four hits and held Oklahoma Christian scoreless as the Hilltoppers won game three 3-0 Saturday.
A scoreless first inning set the tone defensively for SEU as the Hilltoppers retired three straight to open the game. They rode the momentum to the plate at the top of the second with
SHELBY JANDA bringing home the first run of the contest on a ground-rule double.
St. Edward's scored two more in the third to extend their lead to three, 3-0, early in the game. The lead proved to be enough as Ortega and the Hilltopper defense held the Eagles to just three hits in the final five innings.
MORGAN LEWIS,
KAYLA APPLEBY,
KATHRYN CONNELLY,
KYLIE MICA and Janda recorded hits in the win while Ortega earned her third win of the season in the circle.
The Hilltoppers improve to 8-14 on the year and 5-9 in Heartland Conference play with the win. They return home to face conference-rival St. Mary's on Tuesday, March 26 for a double-header beginning at 1 pm.
