SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The final regular season series of the season is underway for the St. Edward's softball team as they faced St. Mary's University and emerged with the game one win 4-2 Friday.
St. Mary's led early, scoring two runs in the first to put the Hilltoppers in a hole. SEU was able to get one back in the fourth on

Two Hilltopper runs in the sixth swung the lead to St. Edward's, 3-2.
KAROLINA RODRIGUEZ hit a shot to center field for a two-RBI homerun, bringing home Callie Birch and single-handedly handing the lead to SEU.
MORGAN LEWIS's RBI infield single gave SEU some breathing room with a 4-2 lead and Hilltopper defense remained tough to secure the win.
JULISA ORTEGA earned the complete game win, allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Garza was 2-2 on the day with two walks to lead at the plate.
SEU moves to 15-23 on the year while St. Mary's drops to 28-23. The teams close out the series with a double header on Saturday beginning at noon.
