SAN ANTONIO, Texas - St. Edward's softball closed Heartland Conference action Saturday, falling to St. Mary's 7-2, 8-0.
GAME 1: SEU 2 - STMU 7
St. Mary's took control of the game early with six runs in the first. SEU scored one run in the second and fourth innings but were unable to make up enough ground.
LAUREN GARZA led at the plate, going 3-3 and scored the only two Hilltopper runs.
OLIVIA BURDICK suffered the loss on the mound while
MIKAYLA PARKER performed well in relief, going 5.2 innings while scattering eight hits and allowing two runs with one walk and four strikeouts.
GAME 2: SEU 0 - STMU 8 (5)
SEU was unable to get their bats going in game two, being held to one hit while the Rattlers scored runs in every inning but the first, resulting in the run rule loss for the Hilltoppers.
St. Edward's falls to 15-25 on the year and 11-19 in Heartland Conference play and end the conference season out of playoff contention. They wrap up their 2019 season with a double header at #3 Angelo State on Tuesday.
